Man from epic Charleston car chase to be featured on national TV

Charleston’s infamous 1999 police chase is in the spotlight of Biography channel’s new “Why I Ran” series. The show seeks to get in the mind of those who ran from police to see why they ran and what they were thinking.

Here’s the episode description:

A crack addict pushes his wife to notify police after he sells their personal items for drugs. Fearing prison time, the man steals a car from a local dealership and takes police on a pursuit that ends in gunfire.

The Charleston story of Rob Burris airs Monday, September 8, at 10 p.m. It shares the half-hour time slot with another story about a truck driver.
