Weighting in at 550 pounds and 48 feet, the Dragon Boat Beaufort team officially has its own boat.

Look for a launch party on July 28 at the Port Royal Marina and the boat to run during the Water Festival from July 13-22.

The Island Packet caught up with the team and has more about the boat and fundraising for it.

Dragon boat 20-person crews often raise money for cancer patient services and offer a chance for cancer patients and survivors to compete to raise fitness and mental spirits.
