Groundbreaking author reads to the College of Charleston

Dr. Qanta Ahmed will be at the College of Charleston Thursday to read from her new book, “In the Land of Invisible Women,” a captivating memoir depicting her experiences working as a doctor in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This Pakistani descended, British citizen studied medicine in the United States. When her visa application to remain in America was denied, she impulsively decided to move to Saudi Arabia and practice medicine. She proved to be emotionally unprepared for the cultural, religious, and personal transformation she was whimsically approaching.

The College of Charleston is hosting this free event on Thursday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at the Robert Scott Small Library. Find more information regarding the event on the Web site.
