The Grand Strand Technology Council (GSTC) is pleased to announce its recent hire of André S. Pope as Vice President. Mr. Pope is also a managing partner at TheDigitel Myrtle Beach and we couldn't be more proud.
Pope's duties will be to increase the membership and involvement of the Grand Strand Technology Council, act as a liaison and PR representative for the advocacy of technology tourism, and provide strategic analysis of growing technology trends within the regional market.
"There is great potential for the Myrtle Beach Region in the emerging technology business market," states Mr. Pope. "I look forward to helping define and promote great companies that already exist in our area, as well open doors to entrepreneurs and businesses looking at the Grand Strand as a viable option for their base of operations."
Mr. Pope comes to the Grand Strand Technology Council with a résumé of experience in educational and business technology. Currently, he is a founding member of TheDigitel Myrtle Beach, an online hyperlocal news source in Myrtle Beach. Within TheDigitel, he works to define new technology methods for gathering and analyzing data from a hyperlocal perspective. Pope also works as an educational contractor for Horry-Georgetown Technical College as their mobile web technology strategist. This background will pave the way to make an easy transition into helping the GSTC set and define Horry and Georgetown Counties as a "hotbed" of technology based companies.
"As our area continues to grow, so do the opportunities to showcase the potential of technology in our area. I am amazed of what innovation goes on in our backyard. I believe much real talent exists here and by connecting these people with one another significant innovation will be spawned by their interaction."
In addition to his prior business and educational experience, Pope has extensive experience within the marketing and branding industry. Before working for the GSTC, he was part-owner and creative director of 803 Labs, Inc. helping launch, define, and market regional and national brands. His hands-on experience with market research and brand identity will lead to a greater showcase of technology in the Grand Strand.
Pope combines his recent experience in contracting and consulting in a number of other areas: specifically public relations, legislative tracking, and community outreach. In the 2011 GSTC Leadership Awards Program, he was identified as a "Leader of Innovation and Technology" and looks to further support that title helping lead the Council into a new era of business development along the Grand Strand.
