Bluffton considers historicizing Civil War attack on town

The Island Packet has an interesting article about a decision that could end up hugely affecting the town of Bluffton's official history.
At least thats what Randolph Stewart of the Beaufort County Historical Society hopes. His 1863 letter written by a confederate soldier documents an attack that year that concluded only when union troops burned the town to the ground. The letter is not in good condition, yet it looks likely to be the key reason why Mayor Sulka and the town of Bluffton will soon officially recognize the day.
Give that article a read here.
