Beaufort 1849 author book signing in Beaufort, Hilton Head on March 15
Beaufort 1849
Author Karen Lynn Allen will be on tour in South Carolina in March for her
latest novel, "Beaufort 1849."
On Tuesday, March 15, she will be signing
copies at McIntosh Booke Shoppe in downtown Beaufort from 1-3 p.m. and at the Barnes and
Noble on Hilton Head Island from 5-7 p.m.
Set in antebellum South Carolina, Beaufort 1849 tells the story of Jasper
Wainwright who, after years abroad, returns to Beaufort and tries to convince
the planters to change their economy to avert the coming storm of war. With its
detailed depiction of Beaufort history and life during the antebellum era and
its themes of secession, slavery and the Civil War, Beaufort 1849 is a richly embroidered page-turner that will
interest anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
