Creative class on tap in May: A creative discussion in Port Royal (post-event update)

Update May 22: If you didn't make it out and want to know how things went, Fuse843 has posted a mini-update.

Check it out over here.

And from some of the chatter I've seen on Facebook, good things could be afoot for the group — and a more organized creative class for the Beaufort area can only lead to good things.

I helped get Fuse off the ground but haven't been involved much of late aside from some website support, so it's really great to see it taking off.

Update May 18: Don't forget that tomorrow night, Thursday, May 19, you can get your creative on at the recently renewed Shed in Port Royal.

Fuse843 is meeting at 6 p.m. for some free creative chatter, details down yonder.

First reporting May 5: Our creative friends at Beaufort's Fuse843 are excited about a couple of creative class events coming up this month.

First up is the TEDxCreativeCoast on Friday, May 13, in Savannah and Fuse843 After Hours at The Shed in Port Royal on Thursday, May 19.

Here are details from their newsletter:

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. For more info on this year's speakers check out the link here.

Tickets are $40 for the event, which runs all day at the Jepson Center in Savannah. Purchase your tickets here.

Fuse will meet at 6 p.m. on May 19 at the Shed in Port Royal to hear from local entrepreneur Louise Hodges, owner of Lady's Island-based Greenbug All Natural Pest Control Products.

Hodges recently took runner-up honors in the FastPitch 2011 entrepreneurs conference in Savannah. She'll discuss what successes and struggles she experiences as a Beaufort County entrepreneur.

We'll also hear from Port Royal on what its plans are for The Shed now that it's been purchased by the town.

Get more info on this event and RSVP at the Facebook event page.

If you're the creative type and not yet acquainted with or a member of Fuse, learn more about them on their website
