Vicky Smith, also known as "The Bat Lady," will speak to the Fripp Island Audubon Society at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Fripp Island Community Center.

Smith will discuss the critical role the winged mammals play in the Lowcountry environment.

The event is open to the public.
