Tasty pork.

Update February 22: Folks, we're just hours away from some dang tasty BBQ — and it's for a good cause.

Get you tickets if you haven't yet, and if you're not sold yet, The Island Packet has a short profile on some of the talent in store for those that come out.

First reporting: On Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25, the annual barbecue competition to benefit the Friends of Caroline Hospice is back.

Bands, Brews & BBQ benefits the non-profit United Way organization committed to "providing Beaufortonians with end of life care at no charge for 30 years."

This year the venue is moving to downtown Port Royal right smack downtown on Paris Avenue and adds a "Wing Throwdown" on Friday night

On Friday the event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. with live music and samplings of wings from the participating cookers. The Saturday event will run from 12 to 4 p.m. and includes a sanctioned South Carolina Barbeque Association cook off in the categories of ribs and butts as well as live music from four local bands and entertainment for the children.

Visitors to the event will get to sample all they can eat of the best BBQ our area has to offer.

This year you'll save by purchasing in advance. While kids 12 and under are free, on Friday tickets are $10 ($15 at the gate) and on Saturday it' $15 ($20 at the gate). You can buy in advance online.

If you want to compete, know that you'll need to register by the 10th.
