Joe Frazier during a Beaufort ceremony where he received the Order of the Palmetto.
Update November 18: Lots of coverage of the nice memorial service for Joe Frazier.
The Island Packet has a write-up and photo gallery (get that here) and WTOC 11 has a nice video (watch that here).
First reporting: Of course you have heard the sad news that Beaufort boxing legend Joe Frazier died at 67 after entering hospice care for advanced liver cancer.
Now the man and legend is being honored with both written words and a memorial service.
While the funeral and viewing will be held in Philadelphia, Frazier will be buried in Beaufort during a private ceremony, however a public ceremony will be held in Beaufort.
The tribute will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at noon at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park with music and tributes.
WTOC has a nice video report on the local reaction and remembrance (watch that here) and in a similar vein The Island Packet has a written report (read that here) and a tribute to his importance and impact in the Lowcountry (read that here).
We've previously mentioned more national reaction to Frazier's passing.
