Beaufort merchants look to rally behind a local chapter Lowcountry Local First (updated)

Update April 7: We heard back from Lowcountry Local First and they are indeed seeing a potential expansion into Beaufort.*

General idea here is that some Beaufort businesses are intrigued by LLF, who after having some good years in Charleston thinks the time may be right for an expansion.

Disclosure: We're a member of LLF.

*Side note: I've thought this would be a great fit for some time.

First reporting: We're still waiting on official comment from Lowcountry Local First, but it seems the Charleston-rooted local business group is expanding to Beaufort and holding an open discussion of sorts tonight, April 7, in uptown.

Over at our Charleston site, we're quite familiar with the group. They have been an advocate of local events and efforts to help the community recognize how supporting local businesses is good for the local economy as a whole.

Follow those links in the prior paragraph to learn a lot more about the group.

But as for the news of the day, LLF is due to be in uptown from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Suzara’s Kitchen. As for the agenda, here's a bit from a brief announcement: "LLF has done amazing things for locally owned businesses in Charleston, and we think they might help us do the same for Beaufort. Please join us and other local business owners and patrons to enjoy good food, drink, and conversation as we explore the possible benefits of a Beaufort chapter of Lowcountry Local First."
