Updated Sept. 13: The Island Packet has a report that the Beaufort County Council's Finance Committee will not intervene regarding another board's decision to not fund Lt. Dan Weekend due to a "poor application."

Reported Sept. 3: As you know the Lt. Dan Band featuring Gary Sinise has had a good presence in Beaufort these past two years and is about to put on its second concert and Lt. Dan Weekend for injured soldiers.

But things aren't all rosy between the Lt. Dan Weenkend Independence Fund leaders and the county.

You see The Island Packet has a report that the Independence Fund asked Beaufort County for accommodations tax dollars to help pay for the upcoming Lt. Dan Weekend and was sent away with nothing.

Well now the Lt. Dan Weekend organizers are taking to Facebook and other venues to protest the decision and ask the public to help them support the weekend and turn the opinion of the county.

The problem with that though is the organizers of last year's Lt. Dan Weekend had particularly harsh words for the Beaufort community and its businesses for their lack of support. 

We'll see where this one goes.
