USCB to host "what is government for?" discussion with bestselling author Jeff Madrick

Professors Dr. Carl Eby and Dr. Timothy James, co-chairs of University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Quality Enhancement Program, announced in a press release April 1 that the school will host a discussion with New York Review of Books economics columnist and author Jeff Madrick.

The discussion, themed around the question and role of Government, will take place at 6 p.m. on April 6 in Hargray room 156 on the Hilton Head Gateway Campus.

“He was our first choice so we’re super pleased that it worked out” said Dr. Eby; “we were looking for a speaker with a broad appeal across students, faculty, and staff because in this economic environment, we thought everyone would be interested of hearing the thoughts of a major contributor.”

Madrick is a senior fellow at the Roosevelt Institute and a former economic columnist for the New York Times. He has authored such books as "The Case for Big Government" and "Taking America."
