While the Amtrak station in rural Yemassee has managed to stay open, the old Marine Corps rail depot used by recruits hasn't, and in it the town has seen an opportunity to revatilize its history and itself and has closed a deal to buy it from CSX rail.
The Island Packet has a bit more in depth reporting about the deal when news broke of it some months back.
