Eight people including five children rescued from St. Helena Sound

8 were rescued after putting inflatable rafts in at Harbor Island (marked) before drifting some two miles out into St. Helena Sound.

Update: Many more were rescued in a 36 hour period.

Officials along with the help of a shrimp boat rescued eight people from strong currents in the St. Helena Sound, Monday, after their inflatable rafts were sucked out into the wide channel.

Rescued were three adults and five children, only two of which had life vests — a number equal to the number of oars in the group
