Open space, like The Green in downtown Beaufort, are at the forefront of the debate.
Update October 24: A measure that would ask voters to approve $20 million more for Beafufort County's Rural and Critical Land Preservation program is headed for debate at today's county council meeting.
First reporting August 12: Word is a third referendum asking Beaufort County residents to foot the bill for land preservation could be brought before voters very soon.
The Island Packet has a report here on the potential referendum.
Though it got off to a rocky start years ago, the preservation program appears to have been effective as of late.
