Consultants hired by the Beaufort County School District are telling of some alarming figures yesterday on the county's falling standards among minorities.

The Island Packet is reporting that the findings from the study found that only 66% percent of African american females and 52% black males passed the 2010 High School Exit Exam on their first attempt, the lowest percentages of any demographic measured.

Read the full report on the matter and what the school district is planning to do about it.

Update December 9: Bluffton Today has a report that is similar to the Packet's but focuses on the surprise it caused; read that report here.
