Beaufort County public safety chief resigns (update: More details emerge)

Updated Sept. 8: The Island Packet filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the county asking for a bit more information on this incident.

What was uncovered is a bit of a he-said/he-said and more confusion about exactly what happened and what was said.

Reported Aug. 10: The Island Packet has a report that long-time Beaufort County employee, public safety director and hurricane czar William Winn has resigned due to some inappropriate comments he made.

The article and statements made by county officials are a bit cryptic in terms of what was actually said.
