Remember when we told you that the company tasked with performing inspections on the S.C. 802 widening and construction of a new bridge over the Beaufort River had been taken off the job? If not read up on it here.

Well while we haven't seen a follow up to that story, the Island Packet has an incredibly interesting piece this morning on how members of the Beaufort County Council were taken out to an expensive dinner on the tab of the contractor's competitor. Read the story here.

I definitely encourage you to read the Packet story, but the summary goes like this: Dennis Corp. taken off 802 and Bluffton Parkway project. County Council members  taken out to expensive dinner, paid for by Dennis Corp. competitor Thomas & Hutton.

All of this arose from an email disclosure from Councilwoman Laura Von Harten who also attended the dinner.
