The Island Packet writes of talk that if the Beaufort Federal Courthouse is abandoned at the federal level that it could meet some of Beaufort County's space needs, namely for meetings like county council's and the school board.

Seems like a great opportunity to benefit the county, ensure an iconic building isn't left to rot, and draw people and attention to the Bladen Street streetscape and private dollar investment and a possible Horse Trough Park makeover.
