Bridges Preparatory charter school earns state approval

Bridges Preparatory School earned approval from the South Carolina Public Charter School District to open in fall 2013.

This means the schools is state sponsored and a public school free of charge, the school will open with grades K-6, adding an additional grade each fall through 12th grade.

According to the approved charter, the schools' curriculum will be STEM infused (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and teachers will be trained in the Paidiai Method. In addition to being a nationally affiliated Paidiai school, each child will have an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) to accommodate different types of learners. This, along with Character Based Education and a 20:1 student-teacher ratio, is what the members of the BPS charter school committee proposed to the SCPCSD.

The location is yet to be determined, but properties north of the Broad River are currently under review.

Applications for students entering grades K-6 fall of 2013 will be available mid August. Because BPS is sponsored by the state, students from outside Beaufort County are also eligible to apply.

A Head of School Search Committee is currently being formed. Interested applicants are encouraged to send resumes/CVs to info@bridgespreparatoryschool.org
