S.C. has more money to spend, but budget fights go on

As our state's House budget writers began to organize and sort through South Carolina's $6.3 billion general fund budget, it became clear that lawmakers will have up to a cool $900 million more money to play with than last year.

But don't think that's ending the budget wars.

Now, lawmakers will have to fight about which state programs to restore after cutting $190 million from them three years ago. According to Rep. Brian White, R-Anderson, there's simply not enough to go around. He said, "We’ve got to pick and choose wisely and put our money towards debt, infrastructure and job recruitment.”
