Chuck Atkinson was a building inspector who approved some work on a Port Royal building that would see its balcony collapse in 2008, injuring a 72-year-old man.

But when Atkinson applied to be Beaufort County's building codes director, he never mentioned that he worked for Port Royal for those 11 months.

Now Beaufort County Administrator Gary Kubic has told The Island Packet that after reflecting on it, the county will take no action against Atkinson.
