South Carolina group back on for Jasper Port efforts

If you missed it, the off-again on-again off-again Georgia-South Carolina group tasked with paving way for a Jasper County port is back having meetings once again.

And only just so.

The Jasper Ocean Terminal Joint Project Office met on Monday, March 19, and agreed that any dredging spoil from the proposed deepening of the Savannah River should be concentrated on the first phase of the propose port site — for maximum savings as more dredging spoil would likely reduce need to truck in fill to raise the low-lying land to a height suitable for a port.

But beyond that, little agreement seemed to abound.

I'll point you to Bluffton Today's report for a rundown on the latest in the slow-moving negotiations for a Jasper Port.
