According to E. T. H. Shaffer in Carolina Gardens, “Charleston is a city set in a garden” so it comes as no surprise that window boxes have become the latest craze.

They are showing up everywhere with the most creative plantings. From succulents to exotics- anything goes. It is for this reason that the Charleston Horticultural Society is partnering with Charleston Magazine and challenging professionals and homeowners to reach new heights in creativity and submit their work in a window box competition.

For the next two months, professional designers and homeowners will have the opportunity to upload their photographs of their window box designs and submit them. Professionals can enter as many different designs as they would like from as many different clients as they can recruit, provided they have their client’s permission. Homeowners may only submit one design.

All window boxes enter in the competiton should be created between November 2012 and March 24, 2013 and be within a 30 mile radius of peninsula Charleston.

For details, check out the official competition website.
