Enough Pie turns 1600 Meeting in to a blank canvas for local artists

Enough Pie has announced its call for artist proposals for Awakening: a one-day art and performance event aimed to breathe new life into 1600 Meeting and usher in an era of arts-driven community collaboration for the upper peninsula.

The rooms and hallways of 1600 Meeting, an 86-year-old vacant structure on upper Meeting Street, will be open for creative reinterpretation during the 3-day window between cleanup and building renovation.

Awakening will be a temporary and site-specific event, never to take place in 1600 Meeting again. Artists of all disciplines, whether performing or visual, are encouraged to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Proposals are due on May 6th. Selected participants will be notified of their acceptance on May 20th. Awakening is scheduled for early June, but the final event timeline is dependent on the 1600 Meeting renovation schedule. The final event date will be announced as soon as possible.
