A Charleston city councilman, the Rev. Jimmy Gallant, plans to rescind a motion he made in February that blocked the council from any approvals on the Magnolia development project in the Charleston Neck area. The project is located in Gallant's district, and he said he will tell the other council members next week that things are back on good terms between the developer and the project's neighbors.

According to The Post and Courier:

"It took us several months to iron it out, but I think we're back to working together," Gallant said Friday.

Since February, developers behind the project met with community leaders and residents from the surrounding neighborhoods. They plan to redesign the project's Web site to make it more interactive, and the company also will start circulating a newsletter for residents who aren't Internet-savvy.

"It's been a tremendous amount of work that's gone on in the last three months to rebuild the bridge to the community," said Jonathan Scott, a project spokesman.

The dispute began earlier this year, when Gallant spoke out about Magnolia developers withholding information.
