In an attempt to reduce construction noise along the stretch of Highway 17 slated for widening, Mount Pleasant's Town Council has approved the construction of a 3,000 foot-long wall.

A contract was awarded yesterday to Gulfstream Construction to tackle the job of building the 3,000 foot by 10 foot high sound barrier. The wall will cost an $743,000 out of the $14 million project.

The Post and Courier has the story.
