Arrest made in case of bleachers turned to scrap

Beaufort County police have arrested a man after a $13,000 set of aluminum bleachers was stolen and sold for $600 of scrap metal.

Police reported they found the bleachers cut into multiple pieces at a local scrap metal dealer.

Harry Lee Singleton, 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged with receiving stolen goods and obtaining goods under false pretenses.

Police said they didn't think it was connected to the 40 missing soccer goals in Bluffton.

Perhaps shockingly stupid, yet not entirely as the price of aluminum has nearly tripled in the last five years.
