Update, Febraury 4: The festival was once again a downright success with live music and snacking that entertained hundreds on a beautiful Saturday in Marion Square.
An array of attendees -- from families and couples to groups of friends and dog-walkers -- funneled into Marion Square to enjoy the cheap eats, agreeable tunes and a sun-shining sky at this weekend's Food Truck Festival.
"I think it's great they're allowing food trucks downtown," Charleston-area resident and culinary student Jamie Cook said, as he picnicked, enjoying a plate comprised of two mini-cheeseburgers and a heap of macaroni and cheese. "It's a good step forward in the food service industry in this area"
Other's surely shared Cook's sentiment and can be lived through vicariously via our photo roundup below:
People stood in densely populated lines for over 30 minutes waiting for their favorite local flavors.
Many brought pets for company while picnicking with friends and family.
Kids of all ages jammed out all day long with three different live bands.
One of over 10 vendors, Dulce set up a small seating area to give its truck a particularly welcoming feel for customers.
With the hundreds of people that attended the festival, it was hard not to bump into a familiar face.
The festival also offered a tremendous opportunity for local non-profits and other organizations, such as Lowcountry Local First, to highlight mission importance.
If this festival sent one message, it was that the countdown for next year's event starts now.
A slew of Charleston's most beloved food trucks will be rolling in to the heart of downtown Charleston on Saturday, February 2, for the 2nd Annual Charleston Food Truck Festival.
Delicious food, live music, vendors and more will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Trucks that have confirmed attendance are:
- Roti Rolls
- Hello My Name Is BBQ
- Diggity Doughnuts
- Foodie Truck
- Outta My Huevos
- Auto Banh
- Cast Iron
- Dulce
- Little Star Caribbean
- Moose's BBQ
A tip to the hungry - come early. If you want to grab one of your favorites dishes, the earlier you arrive the better chance you'll have to grub on the goods!
