Hurricane evacuations: Adding I-526 won't really help Johns, James islanders

As The Post and Courier points out, yes, extending I-526 would most likely help get folks off James and Johns islands, but the real problem is getting folks out of Charleston County.
Read more stories on this subject in our I-526 topic page.If you haven't already though about it, know that during an evacuation, the choke point is not getting from the islands, but rather getting past the I-526, I-26 choke point.
The point? Talking about the need for a better evacuation route just doesn't make that much sense to be pro-construction of I-526.
