"Cause An Effect" in Your Community

Did you happen to attend the Socastee Heritage Festival this past weekend?  It was a great community event attended by hundreds.  Did you know the reason behind the festival?

Well, the Socastee Heritage Foundation has teamed up with Palmetto Bays Elementary School to help raise funds to create a sensory playground at the school for  children with special needs.

The plans for the playground would provide wheelchair accessible swings and other pieces of specialized equipment to allow students, supervised by trained staff, to stand, bend, and stretch in an outdoor setting. Basically, the playground will provide a lasting, safe play area for students who are blind, deaf, or immobile, and who have suffered strokes and/or other debilitating conditions. It will provide the most limited students with an outdoor experience to parallel their general education peers.

Feel the need to help?  You still can.  Palmetto Bays Elemantary and The Socastee Heritage Foundation applied for a $25,000 Cause An Effect Grant from State Farm to help  with the playground. They were 1 of 3,000 applicants and made it to the top 100. State Farm will award the grant to the top 40 causes with the highest votes . This is where they  need your help. You can vote for their cause by logging into Facebook on a computer (mobile devices won't work). You can vote up to 10 times a day until May 17. Even if you vote 10 times just today, or just once, it would help.

Please help by voting over on Facebook and feel free to spread the word.
