Alaska beats Stingrays 3-1, evens Kelly Cup series

The Alaska Aces beat the Stingrays, 3-1, in Game 2 of the Kelly Cup finals Saturday night, May 23, in front of a sellout crowd of 6,396.

Read more stories on this subject in our Kelly Cup topic page.Despite the loss, the Stingrays get to continue the now evened seven-game series back home at the North Charleston Coliseum for the next three games, beginning Wednesday, May 27, at 7:05 p.m.

Stingrays coach Jared Bednar had this to say about the series thus far:

“These two teams are so evenly matched we could have easily won (Saturday) and easily could have lost the game Friday night. It’s one play, one break, and one executed play or one save here or there that’s been the difference in the first two hockey games.
