Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Tournament coming

Held this year on April 30 at Mount Pleasant’s award-winning RiverTowne Country Club and presented by Husk Restaurant, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Tournament is a day of fun and competition for a great cause.

Our annual Golf Tournament is a perfect way for you to help us start something for children right here in the Lowcountry.

Each year the golf tournament includes a dinner reception and an awards ceremony, held immediately after the tournament. Registration for the tournament begins at 9 a.m., and tournament play (shotgun start) begins at 10 a.m.

We serve more than 200 Tri-county children each year, ages 6 to 16, by offering them the support of a positive relationship with a mentor. Through this relationship, a child has the opportunity to share new experiences with an adult role model while developing and strengthening his or her capacity to become a competent and caring adult.

The benefits of this nationally acclaimed program, the oldest and most effecting youth mentoring program in the country, are needed here in the Lowcountry. Young people who participate in BBBS are less likely to be arrested or to use drugs, they stay in school longer and earn better grades, and they get along better at home and with their peers. If you’d like more information about how you can get involved in our tournament this year as a player or a sponsor, please call Program Director Mandy Scherer at (843) 266-5232, or send her an email at MTScherer@cydc.org.
