Come to Marion Square on Friday, May 1st, for a free concert by Quentin Baxter and to watch an artist-built and decorated cardboard house come together.

The cardboard shelter, called "The House of Hope," will be painted by local artists to create a symbol of concern for the homeless.

The event runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in Marion Square in downtown Charleston.

The event is being held to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and to raise funds for the Humanities Foundation's ShelterNet. That program provides one-time emergency financial assistance for low-income individuals and families who are in danger of eviction or having their utilities disconnected.
