Social Restaurant + Wine Bar in conjunction with its Starving Artist Series presents: "Hiding in an Indian Summer" on Wednesday, October 5th. This showcase will be the unveiling of more than a dozen new works by Charleston artist Julio Cotto.

Cotto, is a staple in the Charleston arts scene and his works can be found hanging in both Social Restaurant + Wine Bar and Torch. According to Cotto, “I can't remember the last time I was this excited to show new work. My inspiration has been fueled by a recent trip to New York City. My work doesn't pertain to the city itself, but is born of the eye-opening and mind-opening experiences I brought back with me to my King Street studio. I have dug deeper into my imagination than ever before.”

The collection will tell the story of The Peacemaker, a figure those familiar with Cotto’s work have caught glimpses of in a couple of previous pieces. This series shows Cotto’s new-found interest in playing with shadows, textures and experimenting with a new background style he created that he calls the 'pueblo technique.'

The unveiling will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5th, at Social Restaurant + Wine Bar. Joining Cotto, artwork by the artist EDGE, photography by Cuff Gleaton and jewelry by vintage-inspired designer The Scarlet Poppy will be on display. Live music will be provided by The SunShine Boyz from New Orleans.

There's no cover, so come ready to eat up some incredible art and drink some fine wines.
