Blue Bicycle Books welcomes Arthur Allen, author of "Ripe: The Search for the Perfect Tomato" on Saturday June 19th from 11 a.m.  to 1 p.m. 

Allen, a journalist, follows the history of tomato cultivation and breeding from the Chinese Army’s conquest for canned tomatoes to Italian farmers’ devotion to retaining their tomato traditions.

They may even have some juicy heirlooms to sample. Mmmm.

Blue Bicycle Books is located at 420 King Street in downtown Charleston.
