Update January 31: Cary Ann and Michael killed it on The Late Show last night, naturally.

The duo took to the stage for their first network television performance and played their song, "Birmingham" for the crowd.

You can watch the video of said performance here. Be sure and click on the last "dot" to skip ahead to their segment.

Charleston's own indie-folk sensation Shovels & Rope will appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday, January 30.

The band consists of Cary Ann Hearst and her husband, Michael Trent, formerly of The Films. The two have collected numerous accolades over the last year, including three 2012 Charleston City Paper Music Awards and the number three listing on 2012 American Songwriter's Best Album for their hit "O' Be Joyful." They have also recently been added to the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup.

Hearst and Trent will round out Dave's guests for Wednesday evening, whom also include Hollywood stars Jason Bateman and Alison Brie. The show airs at 11:35 p.m.
