Update September 9: Hurricane Irene postponed the event, but tonight's the night! Join host Marcus Amaker, celebrity judges Nathan Durfee, Quentin Baxter, the Lowcountry Highrollers, and folks from Theatre 99, and celebrate the most courageous of consonants, the letter C.
It's all going down at Chai's on Upper King, from 7 to 10 p.m.
First reporting: On Friday, August 26th, citizens of Charleston will cha-cha over to Chai’s to celebrate the letter “C”, all while supporting the great work of SideWalk Chalk.
The Lowcountry Highrollers, Quentin Baxter, Nathan Durfee, and cast members from Theatre 99 will be awarding prizes to best “C” inspired costumes, the night’s best moves (DJs Rocky Horror and Party Dad bringing us the disco we dance to), most money raised, and anything else that catches their eyes at any given time.
The night’s MC will be Charleston’s Chief Connoisseur of Consonants, Marcus Amaker.
To participate:
- Log on to By the Letter
- Register your team (even a team of 1!) or buy a general admission ticket
- Start collecting donations. Promote your team via Facebook, Twitter, or email by using the buttons on your team page. Each contestant must raise at least $50 to earn an official contestant entry number and be eligible for prizes
- Show up at Chai’s by 7:00 on August 26. Meet some friends. Have a drink. Laugh. Dance.
- Start winning prizes.
