Chefs, culinary students and home cooks invited to compete in an oyster recipe contest

The Charleston Restaurant Association will be hosting the 28th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival on January 30th.

The kick off to the event is the annual Oyster Recipe Contest. The contest will be held on Monday, January 24th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Culinary Institute of Charleston Palmer Campus located in downtown Charleston.

The contest is divided into three categories: Culinary Students, Industry Chefs and Home Cooks. Competitors will submit their recipe in advance then prepare the dish for judging during the event. Each category will be judged separately and a cash prize will go to the top two winners of each category. First place will receive $300 and second place will receive $200. Admission to the event is a $20 donation at the door which will go to a scholarship fund for CIC and College of Charleston students.
