On Saturday, October 22nd, the first ever Out of the Darkness Walk will take place at Broadway at the Beach's Heroes Harbor at 11:00 a.m. to raise awareness of suicide prevention.
A local resident organized the walk in honor of a close friend who committed suicide. The 150 expected walkers have all been affected by someone taking their life. The Sun News has a touching write-up. You can see it here
The event is part of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) efforts to raise awareness, remember lost loved ones, and support the cause. If you are or know of someone contemplating suicide, please call their crisis hot-line at 1-800-273-TALK (8225).
