The First Tee of the Grand Strand (FTTGS) will hold a fundraising golf tournament on Aug. 25 on the SouthCreek and West courses at Myrtle Beach National in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Net proceeds will go toward helping fund the organization’s year-round programming for more than 10,000 youths in Horry and Georgetown counties.
The mission of The First Tee of The Grand Strand is to impact, influence and inspire the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that build character and citizenship, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf and other character-building activities.
“This tournament will raise the resources we need to impact the lives of thousands of youth in Horry and Georgetown counties,” said Carol Petrea, co-founder of TFTGS, along with her husband Rusty. “We’re all about nurturing the future generations of our youngsters and helping them become model citizens as well as the community leaders of tomorrow.”
A hole-in-one contest on each course will offer a prize of four tickets to Tuesday’s practice round at the 2013 Masters Tournament, with limo service from Horry or Georgetown counties and admission to a hospitality suite. There will also be a live and silent auction, a 50-50 drawing, a raffle, autographed memorabilia and gift certificates to golf courses and area restaurants and shops.
“We hope it will be the most memorable tourney around,” said Harry Coombs, tournament director. “It is for the greatest cause: our youth.”

The entry fee per team (four persons) is $380 and includes cart and green fees, lunch and a cocktail hour with complimentary beer and wine. Only team reservations will be accepted. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, with varied levels ranging from $75 to $10,000.
On site registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Both courses are part of the family of courses in the area (22) managed by National Golf Management.
