Charleston Battery playing final game of regular season, heading to playoffs

After a 4-0 victory on Saturday, the Charleston Battery are heading to the USL PRO Playoffs, joining Orlando City and the Rhinos as the first three teams to advance to the post season.

The playoff picture was given some clarity after Saturday night's action, with the Rochester Rhinos and Charleston Battery both clinching berths in the playoffs after their clash at Sahlen's Stadium. While the Battery took a 4-0 victory, snapping a five-game winless streak, both teams are now mathematically into the post season, with only seeding to play for in their final game of the season.

The top six teams in USL PRO advance to the playoffs with the top two teams earning a bye into the semifinal round. Currently in third position the Battery still has a chance to earn a second place finish. The final games of the USL PRO season will be played this weekend determining the remaining three playoff teams and the order of finish.

The Battery will play its final game of the regular season on Saturday night, August 18, at Blackbaud Stadium versus the Dayton Dutch Lions. The first 500 children through the turnstiles will receive a free mini-soccer ball courtesy of match sponsor Piggly Wiggly plus immediately following the game there will be spectacular fireworks!
