Image by College of Charleston It's 2.1 years in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Built from November 2007 to December 2009, the College of Charleston's new 125,000 square-foot School of Sciences and Mathematics building at the corner of Calhoun and Coming streets is done -- and a Web cam captured the whole construction process.

Here's more about that new building from the college:

You're visiting the School of Sciences and Math at an exciting time! Ground breaking for the new, 125,000-square-foot Science Building took place October 19, 2007. Since then, its construction has moved at an astounding, unrelenting pace. in January 2010 the new facility on Calhoun Street will be ready to house the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Lowcountry Hazards Center, South Carolina Space Grant Offices, a NASA lunar outreach and education office, an earth history museum, GIS and Remote Sensing laboratories, and geosciences laboratories and offices. Portions of the building will temporarily remain unfinished as the College finalizes its plans to move the Biology Department to the Science Building. The Science Building features a 150-seat auditorium, state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories, gathering areas for faculty and student interaction, and a large courtyard reminiscent of the walled gardens of historic Charleston. The building's first classes held on January 10, 2010.

The School of Sciences and Math is also housed in the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center on Coming Street. We hope you come take a look at our facilities!
