University of South Carolina religious studies professor, Kevin Lewis, has penned a book on Americans' profound sense of the lonesome.
Through deep examination of American music, fiction, art and religion and culture, Lewis has determined that Americans like lonesome. In Lonesome: The Spiritual Meanings of American Solitude, Lewis explores why and how Americans experience lonesomeness in a far different way from people on other continents.
