A free public reception for astronomical painter Alizey Khan’s second solo show, “Interspatial” will open October 17 at the Coastal Community Foundation from 5:30 to 7:00pm, with an artist's lecture at 6:00pm and live music by local singer-songwriter Livy Conner and free refreshments throughout. The exhibition will run until January 15, 2014.

Khan’s lecture at 6pm will focus on her unique layered resin painting technique, her artistic philosophy behind her cosmic subjects, and astronomical information about the objects she depicts. A variety of handmade cabochon jewelry made using her resin painting technique as well as handmade linocut prints and the paintings themselves will be on sale at the event. Visitors to the event can also sign up to take Khan's Resin Painting and Resin Jewelry Making classes, which are coming up at Redux Contemporary Art Center. “Interspatial” will include new work as well as feature refinished and reworked versions of all four of the paintings that were successfully recovered.
