The Morris Island Lighthouse has been a fixture in Charleston history and has survived the ravages of war, erosion, hurricanes and time. There is no better way to view it than to paddle by and feel its towering presence.

This full-day tour combines history, architectural achievement and sublime beauty and can only be described as awe-inspiring.

Leaving from our Folly Creek location by the Crosby’s Dock, we will wind through the estuary on our way to the lighthouse, stopping on Morris Island for a late lunch and time to search for shark teeth and other tideline treasures. This kayak exploration will give us a good opportunity to see dolphins, sea turtles and other inhabitants of the estuary.

Tours will run form noon to 6 p.m. from the Folly Creek Outpost at Cosby's Dock and cost you $88 per person.

Wear a hat and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Also, be sure you pack a lunch for an afternoon break on Morris Island. Expedition-style kayaks and all necessary gear will be provided.

The Folly Creek Outpost is located at 2223 Folly Road. To book a tour, give them a call at (843) 884-7684.
