Groundbreaking held for downtown Charleston park

The Concord Park area will soon be reborn as the 5-acre Gadsdenboro Park.

The park will be at the center of the block formed by Calhoun, Concord, Laurens and Washington streets. Parking will be available on site.

The center of the park will be a lawn for programmed activities like soccer, football, etc.  The perimeter will have outdoor “rooms” for playgrounds, bocce ball, chess tables, sculpture opportunities, etc. The concept for the park is the result of a public design workshop.

A ground breaking was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 13.

The Post and Courier also offers a PDF plan of the new park.
