Local hospitals hold childbirth education classes for expectant parents

Grand Strand Medical Center, Conway Medical Center, and Waccamaw Community Hospital all hold sessions throughout the year that help expectant parents prepare for their child's birth.

Grand Strand Medical Center will be hosting a one-day Prepared Childbirth class on Saturday, February 4, 2012 beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m.  Lunch is included in the $50 class fee.  A three-session class begins on Monday, February 6 at 7 p.m.

A variety of other classes are offered including infant CPR, breastfeeding, infant care, and sibling preparation.  You can see the descriptions, fees, schedule, and locations for them here.  You can register online or by calling 1-800-257-0944.

Conway Medical Center offers one-day Prepared Childbirth classes one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch and a snack provided.  The fee is $50 and the next class is scheduled for February 11, 2012.  You can see all dates scheduled for 2012 here.  You can register online or by calling (843) 347-8108.  There are also breastfeeding classes available once monthly, with the next one on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

Waccamaw Community Hospital offers a one-day Prepared Childbirth class, one Saturday a month with the next session on Saturday, February 4, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The fee is $50.  Waccamaw Community Hospital is part of the Georgetown Hospital System.  They have several classes offered at both locations, including breastfeeding, baby care, CPR, car seat safety, and sibling preparation.  You can see a full list of classes here.  You can register online by clicking on the class, date, and time you'd like, or you can call (843) 520-8490.
