First reporting: Applications are now available for the 2011 Charleston Farmers Market.

Founded in 1989 by Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., the Charleston Farmers Market is an important part of the City's vibrant downtown and cultural scene. The market provides local farmers and growers an opportunity to sell their produce directly to citizens and tourists alike and to foster a sense of community in Charleston. In addition to fresh local produce, the Charleston Farmers Market offers live entertainment, sidewalk cafes for tasty brunch items, and a comprehensive crafts and artisan market, featuring indigenous and handmade items for sale.

Applications and the general rules and regulations governing the market are now available for prospective farmers/growers, artisans and food vendors interesting in participating in the 2011 Charleston Farmers Market. The deadline for receipt of application materials is Tuesday, March 1, 2011 by 5pm - no late applications will be accepted, as jurying will commence immediately after the application deadline. There is a non-refundable application fee of $15 per submission.
